So here is the review of my newly acquired BRZ Auto.

Kinja'd!!!

First of all the 400+ mile journey back home after collecting the car, it was surprisingly comfortable, and very economical, it hit 40mpg this was down to me taking it easy a bit, sticking to the speed limits (70mph) for most of the time, occasionally upped the speed a little to make up for lost time due to the numerous road works, I didn't fancy pushing the new car straight away as A) I wasn't used to the car B) I wasn't used to the road so wasn't sure where I could get away with a little excess speed.

Now down to the auto box itself, it has mad commuting of a morning a lot more bearable due to not having to constantly put clutch in, select 1st, clutch out, clutch in, neutral, repeat, just stick it in drive and off I go without any fuss, I actually look forward to going to work because it means I get to drive the car and then look forward to the end of the day, not because I can finish work but because I can drive the car again.

The seats fit nicely and even though I'm a little bit on the overweight side they hold me in very well, I wasn't too keen on Alcantara at first due to them being harder to keep clean and looking nice but the car came in at the right price and had the right options so I decided I could live with them, people have stated that the interior feels a bit cheap, I can't say I share the same sentiments perhaps because I'm used to 10+ year old cars that haven't been so well looked after in the interior.

I've not dared take any of the electronic systems of yet (traction control, vsc etc.) as I don't want to end up in a hedge or kerb, the traction control has kicked in a couple of times when pushing it and it made me smile due to knowing it was getting close to it's limit, eventually I will take the electronics off to have some fun when I feel more confident in it which I can't imagine will take long as it does make you feel confident in your driving ability.

One thing that has justified my purchase more than anything else is the amount of people that tell me how nice a car it looks and even one person went as far as saying that it suits me from an image stand point, one of my brothers friend's caught me parking up and wanted to take a look at it, bare in mind that this guy has an e46 M3, I took him for a spin and he was rather jealous of it, how comfy it was, how well it held the road, all of the cool gadgets it had (particularly the shift light+beeper) and even though his car has 340+HP and mine has a paltry 200hp in comparison he said my car felt faster, joked that he'd have to sell his car now after having a ride in the BRZ because it was that much better which adds to the less is more mantra.

So to finalise, the auto box really doesn't detract from what this car is and that is a 10/10ths car that can be taken to the limit fairly easily and have fun with compared to those with much more power, the handling will amaze you and put a smile on your face but it can be a nice daily that can live up to the morning commute, to have a sports car that is comfortable, economical when needed and fun was completely unthinkable a decade or 2 ago but now I have this, all I can say is. What a car.

having to constantly put clutch in, select 1st, clutch out, clutch in, neutral, repeat,

I like doing this. 1-2-double clutch to 1, rinse and repeat.

fair enough if your happy to do it, I just wasn't a fan of doing that in stop start traffic on a daily basis

lol at E46 M3 owner saying your autotragic BRZ felt faster. Congrats on the car though it will be a great tool for helping you become a better driver.

it's really not as bad as you would think or as some people would have you believe, great for the daily commute and a manual mode for the fun times

yeah I couldn't help but laugh when he was saying mine felt faster as we then went in the m3 and it was sooooo much faster, perhaps it's the different perspective of being in the passenger seat, especially as the passenger seat is barely off the ground in the BRZ

ah well I just remember that I forgot to include that it has sti springs rather than the oem springs according to the previous own (I have some springs in a box that could well be the originals)

You can do the morning crawl in second. It's way easier. I just leave my foot on the clutch. It's really light, so it's almost like having your foot on the dead pedal.

It also depends on what you mean by faster. In the corners? Hell yes. On the straights? Lol.

it was a mixture of straights and corners, he wasn't too specific as to when it felt faster, but the m3 was definitely quicker on the straights but not in the corners

Congrats on the new car but goddamn, every paragraph is one giant run-on-sentencerun-on-sentence. It makes this awfully difficult to read.

Hell yes a BRZ is quicker around corners than an E46 M3? That's a tall order. Especially on the Prius tired of the BRZ. The BRZ is without a doubt a handler, but don't forget the M3 is One hell of a capable car itself.

Yeah, I threw my prius tires out the moment I got the car. I forgot about those... Stock if the M3 was just on whatever they had at Tire Kingdom that looked okay, they would probably be pretty close. The M3 weighs about 600 lbs more.

Similar tires I'm sure they would be pretty close. I just saw you say hell yea BRZ would beat it in the corners and its like woah woah woah slow down. Give the mighty M3 it's due lol.

With both on good rubber, the BRZ is definitely faster in the corners. For example, on an autocross course, the BRZs are significantly faster. On track, the M3 blows it away due to the power advantage, but the BRZ will definitely close up in the twisties, or should if you know what you're doing.
